Belviq diet pill approved by FDA

Belviq diet pill approved by FDA for treating overweight and obesity.

As an addition to a weight loss diet and exercise for chronic weight management, the FDA approved the Belviq diet pill (lorcaserin hydrochloride), for use in adults with a BMI of 30 or greater (known as obese), or adults with a BMI of 27 or greater (known as overweight) and have at the same time at least one condition related to their weight, like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes.

The Belviq diet pill  is an anti-obesity drug produced by Arena Pharmaceutical and is the first such diet pill  to get FDA approval for long-term weight loss in 13 years.

The approval of the Belviq diet pill goes for adults who are overweight or obese with at least one medical complication, like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes. And it should be used in combination with a healthy diet and exercise which is always advised with weight loss diets and health programs.

The overweight and obesity categories are defined by measuring the body fat based on an individual’s weight and height; the BMI (body mass index).
More than one-third of adults in the United States are obese, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This threatens the overall well-being of people and has become a big health problem.
The Belviq diet pill activates the serotonin 2C receptor in the brain. By activation of this receptor might help you to feel full after eating just less and smaller portions.
The Belviq diet pill should not be combined with pregnancy. Also treatment with Belviq diet pill may be responsible for serious side effects, particularly when taken with certain medicines. So always be careful and consult your physician or health care provider before beginning any weight loss, nutrition or exercise program.
